Intel Women in Intel Conference: Oregon 2018
In 2018 I was on the Planning Committee for the Oregon Women at Intel Conference, a day long conference planned by Intel employees for Intel employees in Oregon, averaging about 600-800 attendees per conference. For the first time the conference happened twice instead of just once, each at a different Intel campus in Oregon.
I was on the Volunteer Coordination Committee, which recruited about 100 volunteers per conference, ensured all volunteers for each conference were properly trained and scheduled, and then each volunteer knew their responsibilities on the day of. We filled in gaps when some volunteers didn’t show up. We made sure all volunteer hours were recorded with Intel. The second conference we even paired with a local chapter of a charity, YWCA, to hold a drive for them to collect diapers, non-perishable food, books, gift cards for amazon/target/walmart, etc.
We also coordinated closely with all other committees on the planning team, such as Logistics & Catering, Registration, and Speaker Sessions, as they were the ones requesting volunteers that we had to recruit, properly train, and schedule. Both conferences were a great success and received praise from the attendees.
