3D Animation Study

Final Submission

3D Animation Study

Project Overview: I took a 3D Animation Pipeline course, and loved it! These are what I produced from this study.

My Role: Modeller, Rigger, Environment and Lighting Artist, VFX Artist, Animator

Platform: Maya, Zbrush, Houdini, Substance, Photoshop

Project Goal: To explore the medium of 3D animation.

Early Animation Test

3D Pipeline

As part of the Intro to 3D Animation Pipeline course, we were tasked with creating our own 30 second animation of a self designed character. From concept to execution, Modelling to Rigging to Animation to Lighting to Rendering, I went through the entire pipeline, learning each sector as we went.

I designed this cute sunflower boy, initially just through a quick sketch, before moving on to modelling him in Zbrush.

Once modelled in Zbrush, I moved him over to Maya, where I rigged, textured, and animated him. I also modelled and textured the environment and added lighting.

I then rendered and iterated based on feedback.

SFX Houdini

Using Houdini, I learned how to do SFX, like this “hot head” animation.

The face was a model I created in Zbrush and Maya before bringing into houdini.

Sculpting and Modelling

Admittedly, my favorite part of the pipeline is scultping and modelling (using zbrush, maya, and blender). See below for examples.
